The sliding scale is different from low-cost counselling. This service is for those who are, for example, house/food insecure, unemployed or make minimum wage, impacted by intersecting oppressive institutions, etc.
If the 90$ fee is not accessible to you, book a consultation with our student therapist, and email hello@cultivatemh.ca to ask for the sliding scale. You’ll complete a self-assessment to help determine your Sliding Scale eligibility, which you’ll review with your therapist during your consultation. In that meeting, you’ll also confirm whether you’re a good fit to work together and schedule your first sessions.
You’ll fill out a short self-assessment and review it with your therapist during the consultTogether, you’ll decide on a sustainable fee before starting ongoing sessions.Sliding scale requires weekly or biweekly sessions and spots are limited.

Trauma-informed therapy means our therapists consider how past trauma (big or small) may affect present feelings, behaviours, and relationships. This approach prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment, helping clients process trauma, rebuild resilience, and develop coping strategies. It’s recommended for anyone experiencing symptoms like persistent anxiety, hypervigilance, flashbacks, emotional numbness, or relational difficulties following distressing experiences.

We ask for a credit card to hold your appointment and process any missed or late cancellation fees. Your security is safe: We never actually see your full card number! Our practice management software only keeps something called a token, the last 4 digits, and the expiration date. This lets us bill if needed, but your card info stays private. This is actually one of the most secure ways to make transactions! You can read more about this HERE.
Yes! We have a payment terminal for debit and credit payments. If you prefer to pay in person, just let the front desk know before your appointment begins, as we usually process payments during the session using the card on file (or direct billing if eligible).
- Appointments cancelled within 48 hours of the appointment time will result in a cancellation fee of half of your regular appointment fee.
- If the appointment is cancelled within 24 hours this will result in a full cancellation fee (the total amount for the appointment)
- If a client cancels or misses more than 3 consecutive appointments, or fails to respond to attempts to contact them, we will discontinue treatment.
- No-shows result in full cancellation fee (at the discretion of the therapist)
Right after your appointment, an email will be sent containing the receipt of your session. Download it or screenshot it and upload it into your insurance provider's app or website to submit the claim.
Consultations are designed to help you determine whether our services are the right fit for your needs. During the consultation, you’ll meet with the therapist of your choice online (or by phone) to discuss what you’re looking for, ask any questions you may have, and receive guidance on next steps. While this isn’t a full psychotherapy session, it’s a helpful first step in exploring your options and deciding whether to begin ongoing care.
Our psychotherapy consultations are designed as brief, 20-minute introductory sessions. Offering them virtually allows us to provide timely, flexible access without the travel or scheduling barriers that often come with in-person appointments.
If your desired therapist doesn’t currently have any openings, you have the option of being put on a waiting list. While there’s no standard waitlist time, it can take up to a couple of weeks before a timeslot opens
